Structures, shapes and colors…
Structures are an essential feature of nature and landscapes, life and societies. They evolve over time and are mostly quite resistant, though subject to change. All kind of life organises according to existing structures and shapes of nature along with the development of history and society. They do not have a value in itself but are inherent and precondition to any form of evolution, build-up and advancement.
For me structures thus have a positive notion. This refers to nature and natural life as well as to the functioning of societies. Latter tend to be negatively affected in recent times as fake, hate and disarry become pushed features starting to erode cohesion, societies and institutions.
Personally, I appreciate structured thinking and working, and this also expands and relates to my work as painter. I am more attracted by structured surfaces, patterns and images than random or chaotic appearances. This is why experimentation with three-dimensional structurs of different textures and shapes, applying colors and balancing them, is the essence of my artist work.
In this respect, I contrast confusion, ambiguity and disorder to which human being is exposed, while colors reflecting the richness and beauty in formations and arrangements of natural sceneries. Lastly, I examine interplay and tensions between energy and smoothness in the composition of colors, shapes and structures.
